Specially recorded 'black' grooves with attitude recorded in the UK and Caribbean. Tony Mason has produced a CD full of freshly recorded dance grooves with a classic feel that will win him a lot of friends. Many of the loops are presented in a number of variations for more flexability when sampling. The response from industry insiders has already been very positive. Aside from Tony's superb performances, the CD was entirely recorded using classic analogue processing and recording equipment giving the whole CD a classic feel.

Tony's always jet setting back and forth from the UK to the West Indies, in particular his home of Trinidad. At home he is something of a celebrity and is friends with his fellow Trinidadian stars - Brian Lara and Dwight Yorke. Incidentally Tony himself is a useful and keen footballer, often his hobbling is evidence of this fact.

CD ROM Info
The CD-ROM features all the grooves sampled for easy loading plus Recycled versions. These are 'chopped up' versions that come with associated MIDI Files allow easy editing of tempos and patterns, switching sounds, editing beats, or removing elements. In all there are 382 associated MIDI Files.
The MIDI File disk is available in DOS or Mac formats free with your CD-ROM purchase.

They are mainly variations around the old swingbeat bum ba-bum-bum b bum tss bum type thing, all superbly played and recorded, of course...Some (from tracks 21 onwards) with excellent fills and hits could make superb drum 'n' bass loops if spliced and speeded up, but it's really the swing-back thangs of hip hop, trip hop and hopscotch (er) that benefit from Smokin'...Those after the `real' drum sound will like Smokin'. Credits
Tony's worked with Teddy Riley, Ronnie Jordan, Gabrielle, Al Green, Mary-J Blige, Incognito, George Michael, Fine Young Cannibals and many more. He was a child prodigy who had to tour with his own personal tutor. He's a unique talent.

Format Information
GENERAL - Akai S1000 CD-ROMs work with not only the S1000 and S1100 but many other hard and software samplers that support the format too such as the EXS24, Reason and many hardware samplers. If you're not sure check if your sampler supports S1000 format AND exactly how well, it varies and a native format is always preferable if available.
PRODUCT SPECIFIC - This CD-ROM features all the drum loops sliced up in programs that you can load and either play each slice as it is mapped across the keyboard or use the supplied MIDI Files to re-create the original loop and edit as you wish. This is an extremely powerful system allowing you quick and easy loop editing. Full versions of the loops are also included in banks for quick auditioning too if you prefer to work this way.
