More info on the Producer
JJ is best known for being a founder of innovative sample pioneering 80s band Art of Noise. Art of Noise was essentially JJ, Anne Dudley, and Gary Langan with ZTT overlords Trevor Horn and Paul Morley contributing production and PR skills to the core musicians. Tracks such as 'Moments In Love' and 'Close (to the edit)' are benchmarks in the evolution of sampling and remain classics to this day. After their initial successes the musicians broke away from ZTT and took to producing tracks with well-known icons such as Max Headroom, Tom Jones, Dan Ackroyd, and Duane Eddy. JJ has also been involved remixing artists such as Stephen 'Tin Tin' Duffy, Shakin' Stevens (!) and more recently has been engrossed in the worlds of film, TV, advertising and multimedia. He has a new LP, 'The Art of Silence' just released, check out his web site for more info. The last time I spoke to him he was talking about retiring from music because he felt he was getting too old for it now and had already 'bought the t-shirt' so to speak.
