Apple Loops
Apple Loops were developed by the person behind ACIDized WAV files. Unsurprising maybe then that they basically applied the same concept to the Mac's native Aif files to make them into Apple Loops. Again adding slice, pitch and tag info to each of the Apple Loops. Apple Loops are complete unsupported with any SDK by Apple so any third parties reading them have to 'wing it'. The format has had some quirks along the way that have largely gone unnoticed but do exist. Apple Loops are typically Aif files but Apple has recently released .caf format ones. These Core Audio Format files cannot be written and are another 'mystery' format. Apple Loops are widely used and growing in popularity. Apple Loops will be around for a while. AMG released the World's first Apple Loops library - UltraMagnetic Beats.
